How to convert HEIC to JPG

  1. Add your photos. Drag HEIC or HEIF files into the drop zone, or click to browse.
  2. Set quality. Use the slider (90% is a great default) and choose a background fill color.
  3. Convert automatically. HEICToJPG decodes each photo locally and shows a preview with file sizes.
  4. Download. Save individual JPGs or click Download All as ZIP.

What is a HEIC file?

HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is Apple's version of the HEIF format and the default photo format on iPhone and iPad since iOS 11. It uses HEVC (H.265) compression to store photos at roughly half the size of JPG with similar quality.

The downside is compatibility: many Windows programs, websites, upload forms and older devices can't open HEIC. Converting to JPG makes your photos open everywhere.

Convert iPhone HEIC photos to JPG — step by step

  1. Get the HEIC files off your iPhone. Use AirDrop to a Mac, iCloud Photos on the web, a USB cable to Windows, or save them to the Files app.
  2. Open HEICToJPG on your computer, iPhone or Android browser — no app install needed.
  3. Drop in all your photos at once. Bulk HEIC conversion runs locally, one file after another.
  4. Keep quality at 90% for sharing, or raise it to 100% for printing and archiving.
  5. Download All as ZIP to get every JPG in one file, ready to upload anywhere.

Stop new iPhone photos saving as HEIC

Want JPG straight from the camera? On your iPhone open Settings → Camera → Formats and choose Most Compatible. New photos will be saved as JPG instead of HEIC.

When transferring to Windows, you can also set Settings → Photos → Transfer to Mac or PC → Automatic so iOS converts photos during the copy. For photos already saved as HEIC, HEICToJPG converts them in seconds.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert HEIC to JPG?

Open HEICToJPG, drag your HEIC or HEIF photos into the drop zone (or click to browse), choose a JPG quality, then download each JPG or click Download All as ZIP. Conversion happens in your browser.

Is HEICToJPG free?

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. HEICToJPG decodes HEIC files locally using JavaScript in your browser. Your photos never leave your device.

Can I convert many iPhone photos at once?

Yes. HEICToJPG supports batch conversion. Drop dozens of HEIC files at once and download them all as a single ZIP archive.

What is a HEIC file?

HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the default photo format on iPhones and iPads since iOS 11. It uses HEVC compression to store high-quality images at about half the size of JPG, but many Windows apps, websites and older devices cannot open it.

What JPG quality should I choose?

90% is a great default that looks identical to the original for most photos. Use 75–85% for smaller files to email or upload, and 95–100% for archiving or printing.

Is HEICToJPG secure?

Yes. HEICToJPG is a 100% client-side tool: photos are decoded and converted inside your browser and are never sent to a server, so your private images stay on your device.

Can I convert HEIC to PNG online?

HEICToJPG outputs JPG, which every device and website supports. If you need lossless output, set the quality slider to 100% for the highest-fidelity JPG; for PNG workflows you can then use a sibling tool from the same network.

How do I stop my iPhone saving photos as HEIC?

On iPhone go to Settings > Camera > Formats and choose Most Compatible. New photos will be saved as JPG. Existing HEIC photos can be converted with HEICToJPG.

Does converting HEIC to JPG lose quality?

JPG is a lossy format, so a small amount of detail may be lost, but at 90% quality or higher the difference is practically invisible. JPG files are usually larger than the original HEIC.
